Proposal for an underused city block. This area encloses the remains of a 400+ year old church and first physiatric hospital in the Americas, a small park, and a few residential buildings, all separated from one another with fences and other limits. The proposal aims for a plan of coexistence between these areas through small architectural interventions that enhance the interaction between the parts.

These are located inside the former church and make use of the main nave as an area that hosts different cultural activities. We propose to insert multi-purpose 'boxes' with similar proportions to the church's structure, creating a space-inside-a-space that allow programs to take place without altering the protected areas.

The idea to intervene the park is to stimulate it's use and improve connections to the adjacent areas (church and passage between houses). We propose a walking platform crossing the block in north-south direction over the archeological excavations, making the passer-by aware of the historic legacy of the area and part of an urban exploration experience.
